Taking scalp photos that are actually comparable

3 min read

Same light, same part, same distance — the three variables that make or break a progress timeline.

Lock your variables

Shoot in indirect daylight near a window, never under a single overhead spotlight — hard shadows exaggerate thinning.

Use the same part line, the same four angles (hairline, crown, left, right) and roughly 20–30 cm distance every time.

Keep the cadence

Every four weeks is the sweet spot. Weekly photos add noise; quarterly photos miss the plateau that tells you to change level.

Hair should be dry and unstyled. Product adds shine that reads as density.

Turn this into your own plan

The assessment maps your category, severity and preferences to a staged Level 1–5 regimen.
